If you could choose to die now, or live 30 more minutes doing hard work before dying, which would you choose?
Would you choose to do the work, or would you just get the inevitable over with?
My initial gut inclination was toward simply dying, rationalizing it as “some things in life are worse than death, so we just have to accept that.”
Then I realized I had it all wrong. The next 30 minutes of hard work would be like a beautiful symphony. You would feel the breeze on your face, the callus on your hands, and recall memories that you cherish. I would take those 30 minutes and be in tears at the beauty I always took for granted.
Try to remember this the next time you are facing a mountain of work, try to enjoy the climb.
