AI will predict the future unless we remain curious explorers of the universe.

Determinism can be seen as life being a giant if-then statement; we just fail to see all the inputs to the output.

If Determinism is true, and once we have enough data and computing ability to process every possible factor to a given decision, AI will be able to predict the future.

If AI knows the future, can it predict future outbreaks and potentially discover them sooner than we would expect? Some, yes, as it can hasten the time to figure out a treatment method based on actual facts about the outbreak.

Other things it cannot predict. AI wouldn’t be able to predict the specific outbreak as it could be novel with no information about it.

Along the same logic, AI cannot see the result of a chemical reaction that has never occurred. The new result could be a new element that ends up being the catalyst for infinite energy, for example, which would completely falsify any model for the future AI predicted.

AI can’t predict new things and discoveries. This means in a Determinist world; discovery is the closest thing to free will we can achieve. Only in the realm of new discoveries will AI be blind, as it will not have any information on the discovery.

The takeaway is to be inventive. Be an explorer… it is the only free thing you can do.
